back in the good ol' us of a

well here i am, with my regular computer connected to the internet outside of my previous 9:30AM-7:30PM mon-fri restriction.
i'm home.
the 5 months blew by, but didn't always seem like that at while they were happening. that's what happens i guess.

i still have to turn in a paper (the development of a post-industrial scottish identity) but that can be done via e-mail...e-mail AT ANY TIME OF THE DAY!
heh, got a bit too much pleasure out of that thought.

bad news is i'm without a cell phone, so while my web-related connectivity has increased my general connectivity has greatly decreased. turns out british cell phones won't work here due to some bandwidth issue, they also don't work in iceland. i had planned to call a few of you who read (or damn well should read) this thing and have a conversation that would proceed thusly:

person: hello?
nathan: hello, [person] this is nathan. guess where i am.
person: i don't care, it is 8 in the morning.
nathan: iceland.

but sadly none of you got early morning phone calls from me because iceland wouldn't allow it. so the point of the story is: if you want to reach me, you'd best use computerized means.

i'm real tired because my internal clock says its 4:30am when here it's merely 11:30pm.
pleased to be back but kind of surprised it came to this (what else would have happened? i'm not too sure. but for some reason this turn of events its surprising? i'm tired)
