snooker/chicken parts
i'm here in the library trying to get a lot done, specifically i have to prepare a presentation on Do-Ho Suh, the guy who makes collapsable nylon apartments and such, and finish up another little project.

in order to get a shot i need for my final video, i've hidden a camera inside a shopping bag, eyewitness news-style. a little creepy, but really it's because i don't want to be hanging around with a video camera and getting weird looks so the bag'll have to do.
not too much going on over here, but we just had a "bank holiday". it's funny because they don't mess around with "memorial day" or "vetrans' day" and the like over here, it's just a day off for the hell of it. they don't want to work on the first monday of may so they make it a non-descript "bank holiday".
the snooker tournament is finally over, which means that my flatmates won't be glued to the tv for 4 hour blocks. i had never heard of snooker before i came here, and having watched plenty of it, i can say that i have gained little in learning of its existence. unless i was just in the dark all along and everyone else knows what this game is, snooker is like pool, except slower and more complicated. the british public think that means it should be broadcast in 4, 16 day tournaments a year in 4-5 hour blocks.

in other news, there's a dumpster outside the halal butcher shop nearby which has been leaking blood onto the sidewalk for the past week or so. a few weeks ago i saw them cramming a MASSIVE amount of spoiled chicken parts into it. i wished i had brought my camera when i saw that, a guy trying to fit more chicken parts into a plastic dumpster already overflowing with them.
also, clinton's speech at brown was mentioned in various papers over here. the sunday times (glasgow), however, said that he spoke to "university of rhode island students". another reason (among many) why the sunday times can not be trusted.
3 more weeks left. i have to decide what to do about this blog when i'm done here. should i continue? should i bring it to a close?
