beginning at "the art school"

had my first day yesterday which was just an international orientation really.
they don't really have classes here, just a series of open ended projects within my course (visual communication) to complete over the term.
i have my own "studio" here. this seems like overkill even though it is only a desk with a bulletin board and a computer i share with a few others.

as for the weather, people keep telling me that it doesnt normally rain every day and that this is a particularly bad year. it didn't rain yesterday, but that was the first non-rainy day since i arrived on thursday. there are a few towns in northern england that have been pretty badly flooded because of the rains i guess.

one thing i've learned here is that it is not considered odd to stop into the pub around lunch time, then return again after dinner, then continue this routine throughout the week. its not that these people drink a lot in one sitting, they just drink all the time. and this is by no means just students.

its time i get to the grocery store, buy me some bread, maybe some peanut butter.
